Hey OMG this site is just exquisite…really good i got so much info out of this. And i love that you posted the specs. It seems as if for me to get these effects i have to switch to a much much better lens. I hate shooting at aperature 4 or 3.5 …most of these dramatic effects come out on 2.8 or 2. Ive been trying to acheieve a certain effect where the sides fade out or darken out like a vignette is that done by the cam or later photoshoped?….also i would really be pleased if you still had n e of the photography magazines left….oh i dont know if you need to know how im shooting. But I have a Canon rebel XSI with a kit lens i think 18-55mm….and i really wanna achieve dramatic lighting with faded or darkened edges….i know the fade happends from aperature and dept of field but i think 2.8 or 2 makes it even more interesting no?

I would love to receive any of the older magazines that might be left. I being a photographer for many years strongly feel that good techniques never go out of style. Upon request to my email I will offer my mailing address.

    thanks much

Now, my purpose for coming this way, I have a wedding shoot coming up in about a week and it looks like I will have an overcast day and that the wedding and reception will in the church courtyard (outside). I’ve used fill-in many time before and love the results but need to be able to control it a bit better as of course I won’t have time to check each shot. Yes, I know, all are considered to be generaly guidelines for me to tweek accordingly. My concerns are as follows:
    (1) How much do I turn down the flash? I will probably have one on my handle, a bit above my camera.
    (2) Do I set the white balance to overcast, flash, or automatic? I trust the automatic the least for consistantly good balance.
    (3) Generaly speaking, to what range would a strong fillin flash be effective?
    (4) Which would be the best camera mode to use? I’ve always purferred shutter priority but have read that it has certain limitations.

Yes, I know, sounds like I should get a job turning burgers or something, I’m just wanting to up the quality of my work a bit more as I know I can.

    thanks bunches
